Mercedes-Benz C350 Plug-in Hybrid in Detroit

German carmaker Mercedes-Benz has introduced just now the C350 Plug-in Hybrid in Detroit at the 2015 edition of the NAIAS. The new model comes equipped with a 4-cylinder 2.0-liter gasoline engine together with an electric motor. The engine is capable of producing up to 208 BHP and 258 Nm of torque and here is where the electric motor produces an additional 80 BHP. This way the C-class model started producing a combined output of 275 BHP and 442 lb. ft. of torque. To transfer all the power to the wheels, the carmaker has equipped the model with a 7G-TRONIC 7-speed automatic transmission which sends all the power to the rear axle. This amount of power enables the car to accelerate from – to 62 mph in 5.9 seconds and to reach 155 mph in these 5.9 seconds. The Germans have provided a 6.2 kWh Li-Ion battery pack which can recharge in 1h 45 min from a 240V/16A sourse. This provides the battery a range of 19.3 miles. In hybrid mode, the fuel consumption reaches 112 mpg and emits 48 g/km CO2.

The carmaker will start taking orders for their new C350 Plug-in Hybrid starting next week. Just so you know, it will be sold as C350e. First lucky owners will have the possibility to take them for the first time for a quick run on the street only in March.
