Peugeot reveals the 308 R concept during this year`s 65th edition of the Frankfurt Motor Show.
With a more aggressive look than the original 308, the new concept features three air intakes in the lover section of the front face. The central intake is framed with a blue Dark Chrome bead and the side intakes are covered with a carbon mesh. The instrument panel is positioned to be viewed over, not through and the auto features a 9.7 inch touchscreen.
The vehicle`s posture is lowered by 26 mm. The auto features full LED headlamps, redesigned rear lights and carbonfibre incorporated exterior mirrors, riding on 19 inch wheels with 235/35 R19 tires. The passenger`s compartment is as generous as the one from the original vehicle and this new car features a broader matte black finish spoiler. The lamps, the interior surface of the spoiler and the interior of the tailpipes feature a red signature added to accentuate the model`s prominence.
The Peugeot 308 R concept is powered by the same petrol engine as the RCZ R Sports Coupe. The 1.6 liter, 4 cylinder THP 270 engine works together with a six speed manual gearbox and Torsen differential. The vehicle outputs 270 bhp (201 kW) at 6.000 rpm and 330 Nm (243 lb-ft) of torque at 1.900 rpm. Special reinforced parts such as the engine block and forged pistons have been added in order to make such an output possible.
Although the manufacturer did not share details regarding the auto`s performance, we now know that the engine has a fuel consumption of 6.3 liters/ 100 Km and had CO2 emissions of 145 g/ Km. Nothing is official yet but the production version seems to be due for the year to come.
