Te engineers have used technology based on communication between transmitters in vehicles and the road infrastructure like road signs and traffic lights.
The Autonomous Parking is a Volvo concept technology that allows a car to find park in a vacant space by itself. This allows the driver to leave the vehicle at the entrance to the car park. This function and the auto brake one makes it possible for the car to interact safely with other cars and pedestrians in the car park. Volvo Cars presents world first by making the detection and auto brake technology work effectively when driving in darkness. The technology includes detection and auto brake for other vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists. The new functionality will be introduced by the end of 2014 in the XC90.
