Chrysler`s alliance with Hyundai or Mitsubishi

Chrysler, now independent, is trying to turn around its auto business. One way is to plan an alliance with Hyundai or Mitsubishi that could imply the companies building engines for each other or share platforms. Chrysler executive vice president of product development, Frank Klegon, said no deal has been finalized yet and they are still in discussions with the companies.
A partnership with Hyundai would be more indicated never mind Chrysler’s connections to both Asian companies in the past said Klegon to the Detroit Free Press. The desire for doubling its vehicle sales in America in the next five years forced Chrysler to find an untraditional method. Launching new models it’s not enough. The recent signed deal with China’s Chery Automobile will start the auto production destined for the U.S.
Hyundai is at a critical time in terms of brand appeal and reputation, chipping away at the market for domestic autos. Hyundai doesn’t necessarily need Chrysler to maintain the success.
