Mazda is working on a Mazdaspeed model of its MX-5 for the next year. We hear the engine will be the same like in the new Mazdaspeed3 (2.3 liter turbo four), a bit detuned under the hood of the MX-5. The vehicle will need a smaller intercooler and radiator for everything to fit; the power loss can be cut down to packaging results.
The Kabura concept (based on the MX-5) it’s another feasible candidate for production. Kabura could be produced if Mazda can add Europe and/or Japan in its plans. The possibility of a fixed-rough MX-5 is very exciting although a few other revisions must be fixed. A new RX-8 would rise in 2009 or 2010, accompanied by the CX-5. No word about the development of the new RX-7.
