Porsche will probably take legal action against the EU

Porsche will probably take legal action against the EU over recent proposed CO2 standards aiming to cut average emissions of CO2 for new autos from the limit of 160g/km by 25% to 120g/km by 2012. Porsche doesn`t believe it could make its cars compliant with the European Union passing the law.

Porsche`s legal action is only theoretical at this moment and will be visiting the EU commission making its case. Porsche added that the law would be violating fair trade principles in the European Union.

Wendelin Wiedeking, Porsche`s CEO, said the proposed standards are `completely naïve` and the `emissions can only be graded by vehicle segment`.

Earlier this year a report said Porsche is planning to acquire 51% of Volkswagen, this would allow Porsche to use the VW platforms making smaller and more efficient autos.
