Toyota will not launch electric autos in China

Toyota will not launch electric autos in China. At the beginning of this year, the Japanese carmaker announced the delay in launching the next-generation plug-in hybrids because of the safety concerning its lithium-ion batteries. Toyota is now testing the technology of plug-in hybrid in France.

`In France, 80 percent of electricity is produced by nuclear stations so if electric cars replace fossil fuel cars then you have a clear reduction in the emission of CO2` said Tatehito Ueda - a managing officer from Toyota Motor Corp. `But in China they make electricity by burning coal, so China is not the place for electric cars`.
So, Toyota will be focusing on reducing the running resistance and improving the power trains in China to increase the economy.
