New prototype to be tested by Borgward

Even though Borgward got out of the auto business in 1961, the grandson of the company's founder, Christian Borgward, is planning a return for the Borgward vehicles and there seems that till now actually exists a prototype of a new model which is being tested at the present time. If the car will ever make it to the market, Christian says that he expects sales of 50,000 units per year and that the vehicle will be a real competitor for Audi A6, Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5-series and that its price will be in the wide of 65,000 to 90,000 euros.

The Autovisie magazine, after an interview with Christian Borgward, said that the with the help of a few investors, including key Asian players, the new operations will be based at the company’s original center in Bremen, Germany. In the meantime, the tests for the new model continue and the development of a new outsource of production to manufacturers like Karmann or Magna Steyr will be the most likely route for the upcoming vehicle. Moreover, when Christian was asked if the model will be first presented in auto shows over the world, he simply answered that "perfection needs time". For sure he raised a sign of curiosity in all of us, so we are expecting more news about an comeback of Borgward in the weeks to come.
