No AMG variant for the GLK

Mercedes announced in an interview today with Autotelegraaf that there will not be an AMG variant for the future GLK. They said that two SUV models are sufficient enough to have the AMG badging. `There is no space for a third SUV` said Volker Mornhinweg. `We are now simply going to offer the AMG-program to sedans, convertible, roadsters and the two SUVs (ML, GL)`.

The GLK unit was previewed during the Detroit Auto Show by the Vision GLK Concept - powered by a brand new-generation diesel engine. This four-cylinder model, featuring a 2.2-litre displacement, is reflecting the study car`s dynamic basic concept and is allowing impressive performance figures having an output of 125 kW/170 hp, and reduced consumption and emissions.
