Will Super Aguri finish the 2008 F1 season?

It seems that this year’s F1 teams to participate in the competition is yet unsure. Max Mosley commented that there are all possibilities that F1 would loose at least one of the teams that are now on the list of competitors. For example, Prodrive was thought to be the twelfth team this season, until the customer car issue was brought into the light by David Richards. There are also concerns expressed for the Japanese team, Super Aguri, which failed to appear at the pre-season winter tests. The small Leafield based squad is yet awaited to announce a launch date for the upcoming season or confirm its driver line-up. Most probably, as also mentioned by FIA president Mosley, the Super Aguri team will appear for the first race of the season, in March in Melbourne.

Furthermore, Mosley added that “I wouldn’t like to stake my life on that. I think so, but you can’t be certain. They’re entered into this year’s championship, and we expect to see them in Melbourne.” When asked if he is confident that all the eleven announced teams will take part in the race this year, he simple said „Not very.” Regarding Super Aguri issue, it is worth mentioning that the team struggled financially through the latter part of 2007 and was openly in search of partners. To be honest, it is quite difficult for a private team to survive in this battle, mostly if we take into consideration the cost-cutting regime which the team was put through. However, as a last comment, Mosley said that “As far as we are concerned they are a normal team perfectly entitled to race.”
