9-1 to be revealed by Saab at Geneva Motor Show

Even though first it was announced that the Delta-based 9-1 version from Saab is to be presented just in the summer of 2008 at the London Motor Show, it seems that there are rumores and also official statements that the vehicle will be brought to the market much sooner than planned, at this March’s Geneva Motor Show. The 9-1 model is intended to give Saab an entrance into the continously-developing sector of premium small car segment and wants to place the car into the same are as Mini and the Volvo C30.

However, despite the short period of time left till the London Motor Show, the officials from Saab did not make any statement about the design of the car, just said that it would take on an iconic shape, inspired from the cues of the Aero X concept. There are either no news about the engine to power the 9-1 model, but taking into consideration the General Motors’s recent announcement about smaller, turbocharged engines and their plans to expand its FlexFuel engine range to Europe, we could even expect that the engine to be a biofuel 1.4litre one. Further details to be made public just after the car’s debut in March.
