Zap Alias Highway Electric Car going into production in 2009

We didn`t hear many things About ZAP before. They are in the electric vehicle business and there`s nothing spectacular until now. But things will change beginning with 2009, when the firm announced the Alias model will go into production. The starting price: $30.000.

Alias is a two-passenger auto with a maximum speed of over 100 mph with a range of 150 miles (at least) per charge. The power of this two seater comes from the two in-wheel motors making a total of 320 horsepower plus 557.52 ft-lb of torque. The sprint between 0 to 60 mph will be made in only 5.7 seconds.

`I am very excited to initiate this project` said Mr. Albert Lam, the Former CEO of Lotus Engineering, and now Chairman of the Joint Venture Company. `Looking at our initial project development plan and our discussion with a number of key engineering and technology partners, I believe we can go into production by the 2nd quarter of 2009. We will be using some of the existing facilities of Youngman to manufacture this vehicle`.
