The F1’s one newest team, Force India, presented their brand new 2008 VJM01 race car in a gala event in India on the 7th of February, revealing for the first time a gold, tungsten and white vehicle. Team owner, Vijay Mallya has been attending the event and also main drivers Giancarlo Fisichella and Adrian Sutil, who were also joined by other Indian celebrities and politicians.
It seems that it was confirmed by Colin Kolles earlier that the vehicle was actually a Spyker which featured in last year’s season, which has been modified and used by Force India in the very recent pre-season tests. The final version of the car will be tested later on, sometimes later this month and this will represent a further development of the 2007 Spyker. Now the VJM01 heads to Barcelona where it is planned to start the first tests in preparation for the start of the F1 season in March.
The Force India evolved from the original Jordan Grand Prix team and then the recent Spyker team. Based in Silverstone, since its beginnings in 1991, the team actually won four races and occupied 19 podium places. Even though the team is on the back of Formula 1 teams so far, they hope that by the end of the year, they will be able to move to a mid-level status. Subscribe to Car news by Email |
