2009 Honda Fit making North American debut at the New York Show

Honda announced that its Fit 2009 will make its North American introduction at the New York Auto Show next month. The brand new Fit — which bowed last October in Japan — will build on the ultimate-generation`s sporty nature with high efficiency.

For 2009, Honda stretched the wheelbase of the Fit by 2 inches and moved forward the A-pillars, adding to the interior space of the car. The added area allows the Ultra Seats which can be moved in four different configurations — that includes Refresh mode - to turns the interior of the Fit into a bed.

Power for Japanese-spec Fit model is sourced from a 1.3L or an optional one of 1.5L engine, though it`s expected that just the 1.5L will reach the U.S. So, new for 2009, customers can choose now between front and all-wheel drive. The transmission choices for the all-new Fit will be including a five-speed automatic, five-speed manual plus a CVT automatic.

Honda didn`t release yet the pricing on the Fit 2009, but in Japan pricing begins at 1.14 million Yen ($9,800) topping out at around 1.7 million Yen ($14,600).
