Scores 5 NHTSA Stars for MINI Cooper

The second generation of MINI Cooper hardtop has earned impressive scores for the front and side impact plus roll-over testing in the newest NHTSA’s (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) testing.

In the side impact NCAP testing, the MINI Cooper 2008received a 5-Star rating for the front seat occupant in side-impact protection - the biggest rating issued by the NHTSA. In the same test MINI Cooper received the 4-Star rating for the rear seat occupants.

Testing the frontal impact the MINI Cooper model received a 4-Star rating for the both front seat occupants. So, in addition, the MINI Cooper gain a 5-Star rating for the rollover safety.

"We are delighted that the NHTSA tests confirm MINIs excellent occupant protection in crash situations" said the Vice President of MINI USA, Jim McDowell. "It is a testament to the level of safety we engineer in our cars, making MINI one of the safest small cars on the road today".

Of course it’s better to avoid a crush and MINI is offering a palette of high-tech electronic braking plus traction management technologies to keep the auto safely on the street. In addition to basic Anti-Lock Brakes, plus AST (All Season Traction), MINI is offering EBD (Brakeforce Distribution), CBC (Corner Brake Control) and available DSC (Dynamic Stability Control).
