2009 Fiesta 5-door unveiled by Ford

You`ve seen the all-new three-door Ford Fiesta, so now it`s time for to look at the five-door version that has been subject of countless spy pictures over the last months. Ford unveiled the new unit at the Motor Show today in Geneva.

The new five-door vehicle will appear in Hot Magenta at the Geneva Motor Show. The dimensions of these three- and five- door units are exactly the same. Ford manages to keep most of that three-door's style with an addition of two doors.

Sharing the mechanical underpinnings with Mazda2, the Fiesta model is set to hit the market in the summer of 2008 in Europe.

Alan Mulally - Ford CEO has been eager for leverage the Blue Oval's total resources, and the Fiesta's carefully planned entry into the market in U.S is a bold move through that direction. North America’s slated in getting in 2010 a variant of the Fiesta, although the details on the United States.-spec car have not been released yet.

Standard features for the Fiesta includes keyless entry, a push button ignition and electronic power steering.

A gasoline 1.6-liter engine is the only one likely to be offered in the U.S. variant, but Europe will have diesel options certainly, which could come our way if the market in U.S. becomes more diesel-friendly.

The ability of Ford to be turning a profit on a sub-Focus unit in the United States is still in question, so now we would expect that the Fiesta could be manufactured in Mexico, or Brazil, and come some time this year as an 2009 vehicle.
