Renault Megane Coupe 2008 in Geneva

Renault revealed at the Motor Show in Geneva the Renault Megane Coupe Concept model, a preview variant of a compact coupe production to be unveiled later. The Megane Coupe Concept unit is powered by the 200hp (147kW) Turbo 2.0 petrol engine which produces torque of 280Nm - 2,600rpm plus peak power of 200hp - 5,800rpm ensuring flexibility and punch at all the engine speeds for daily pleasure of motoring. Mated to the manual six-speed gearbox, this 2-liter turbocharged model drives Megane Coupe Concept from standstill to 100kph in only 7.2 seconds, yet returning economical consumption of fuel of only 6.5 liters/100km (with 154g of CO2/km).

Megane Coupe Concept is providing a foretaste of the upcoming Megane Coupe model. "This show car emphatically showcases the evolution at Renault Design. Its squatter proportions and powerful, energetic styling talk directly to the driver’s senses; they say ’driving pleasure’. The spectacular, unprecedented door-opening kinematics add that little touch of magic which contributes to the dream factor associated with the automobile" explains Patrick Le Quément, the Senior Vice President and Corporate Design at Renault. Of an entire length of 4.51 meters, the Megane Coupe Concept has a modern, dynamic silhouette featuring taut lines suggesting perpetual movement, while the expressive, alert front-end looks point at a veritable dynamic personality.
