Glimpses of Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2010

Fourteen pictures of the all-new 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe model have surfaced the network, ahead of the official launch next week at the Auto Show in New York. The coupe unit is based on exactly the same rear-wheel-drive platform that`s found on the Genesis sedan. It was shown with a concept variant in late 2007, and later to some marketing study group in a form od pre-production.

The vehicle is expected to reach the market in the spring of 2009, making the model a 2010 one.

Hyundai officials revealed recently that the base auto will run with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine having up-level units being propelled by a V6 3.8L — not the ex rumored V8 that’s in the Genesis sedan model. While the official performance numbers are unknown, Hyundai’s tauting the Genesis Coupe’s production as being the most affordable 300+ horsepower auto on the market.

The center stack of the car features a big LCD screen, while that gauge cluster presents a futuristic, unreal two-pod design. The Genesis Coupe unit will have a 2+2 setup, having cup holders that’s separates the rear buckets. Despite having only two doors, the rear seat legroom appears amazingly ample.

“Genesis Coupe is the most thrilling, most emotional Hyundai yet,” said John Krafcik, the vice president, product development, strategic planning at Hyundai Motor America when this concept was first presented. “When it hits the market in early 2009, we aim to deliver a driving experience that challenges cars like Infiniti G37, at prices more like Mitsubishi Eclipse”.
