Renderings for Infiniti 4-door GT-R

We heard about this before: Nissan is working on the 2009 GT-R`s four-door variant. It will be on the market starting 2010 under the Infiniti badge. A source reported to AutoExpress "Launching new cars these days is all about recouping investment costs. Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn wouldn’t have approved the GT-R if its hi-tech chassis and transmission were not going to be used in some way in other models – including products from Infiniti and [sister firm] Renault. It’s the only way of making it pay. So building a performance Infi-niti saloon is perfect business sense".

The GT-R 4-doors model is known internally as the R50. It will run with a choice of two power plants. Most obvious is the 473bhp twin-turbo V6 3.8-litre of the GT-R – although they may be now forced in using the V8 5.0-litre unit unveiled recently in the all-new FX50 SUV from Infiniti. That’s because the Nissan brand makes the engine of the GT-R by hand – output is just 50 each day, which would not be enough for supplying the Infiniti too.
