Increased production for Ford Shelby GT500KR

To compliment better the 1,000 40th anniversary 2008 Edition Shelby GT500KR “King of the Road” Mustangs, plus Ford and Shelby Automobiles made the announce that some additional 746 models will be made for the 2009 unit year helping meet the worldwide demand of this supercar. Of that, 571 cars will be available for customers in U.S. thus equaling the 1,571-model production run with the original Shelby GT500KR. This remainder of the vehicles will be for those countries that didn’t receive this year models.

“The response to this car has been overwhelming, so I’m glad we can share it with more Mustang enthusiasts,” Carroll Shelby said. “This car is really special to me and demonstrates that when Shelby Automobiles gets together with Ford SVT and Ford Racing, we can deliver a Mustang that will compete with the best in the world.”

Like the 40th limited edition, anniversary the 2009 Shelby GT500KR mode will feature 540-hp 5.4-liter V-8 supercharged with Ford Racing Power Upgrade Pack, plus 3.73:1 rear axle ratio, some short-throw shifter, and of course unique suspension tuning. The exterior design draws its inspiration from the classic model Shelby KR Mustangs and has unique carbon composite hood, wheels, plus unique striping.
