Honda presenting awards to the top suppliers

Last Wednesday, at its supplier conference (annually held), Honda recognized 63 suppliers from North America for top quality performances, on-time parts delivery plus productivity improvement on last year. Akio Hamada, American Manufacturing president and CEO of Honda, stressed the importance on a market where the prices for raw materials are raising. 79 awards were given among the total of 500 present suppliers.

Hamada said Honda will be continuing to increase the production, but added the fact that the manufacturer will be in need of innovation, collaboration and focused execution from the partners. A new plant’s planned for Indiana, alongside with a brand new engine plant, located in Canada, with both responsible for the increasing spending with $1.5 billion dollars on parts for the Japan-based carmaker.

Honda automobile plants in North America produced a record of 1,432,731 autos, and topped that million-model mark for the first time in America with the total build of 1,015,462 cars. Hondas made in North America represented now 76 percent of the global record sales in 2007 for Honda.
