Expected to be launched by 2011, Mercedes given the go ahead to the project of revamp completely its A and B-Class autos.

According to AutoCar, Dr. Dieter Zetsche – the head of Mercedes-Benz has given finally the green light for the plans to see the A-Class model turned into a 1-series fighter unit and the B-Class transformed to a serious competitor for the future X1 small SUV.

The new A-Class unit— which is expected to be named the CLA — could now spawn three diverse body types, but initially will be debuted as a coupe.
