Jonathan Browning to lead the global sales, service and marketing at GM

General Motors made an announcement on Thursday saying that Browning will be taking over now the position of vice president of the global sales, service and marketing, all of this effective from June 1. Browning will replace John Middlebrook — 49 year veteran of General Motors — who is scheduled for retirement on July 1.

So, according to Automotive News, Jonathan Browning, 48, has headed up General Motors's European sales and marketing department since 2001 and also is currently the chairman of General Motors's Vauxhall brand.

"Jonathan Browning brings a wealth of experience in automotive sales and marketing in the European market to this position," said in the statement the GM CEO - Rick Wagoner. "He played a key role in making GM the fastest-growing major manufacturer in Europe, with a well-developed multibrand strategy".

General Motors's North American vice president on field sales, service and the parts operations, Brent Dewar, will be replacing Browning starting June 1.
