Ford wants to have 100 000 Flex sold models a year

Ford debuted the Flex 2009 at the Auto Show last year in New York and the firm has great expectation for this crossover: to sell about 100.000 models a year!

The threshold of 100,000 "absolutely" is possible for the Flex 2009, said Jim Farley, the group vice president of marketing and communications at Ford. "That’s what we’re looking at production wise," Farley told the reporters here at a press event.

The Flex model goes on sale in the summer. Ford’s counting on brand new products such as the Flex, the Lincoln MKS 2009 sedan and the revamped Ford F-150 2009 pickup to help lift the sales of this year in the second half.

"Flex will find a lot of full-size SUV customers, and a lot of people who haven’t bought Fords are going to buy it," said Farley. "So I think that will really help us in the third quarter."

Flex’s powered by the award-winning V-6 3.5-liter engine of Ford and it’s mated to a 6-speed fuel-efficient transmission. The powertrain’s expected to produce more than 260 horsepower, 245 lb.-ft. torque and a good fuel economy.
