Mercedes and AMG developing greener autos

Cutting CO2 emissions is a priority now for all the carmakers. Mercedes Benz and its performance department AMG feels pressure even more as the European Commission wants to cut down the average emissions of CO2 of all new autos to 120 grams / kilometer by 2012.

Wolf Zimmerman, the chief operating officer at Mercedes- AMG says: “That is not easy. Together with Mercedes we are around 170 grams, so it is a long way to go. Believe me, the world will change dramatically in the next 10 years."

This isn’t the first time hearing that AMG will be introducing gasoline direct-injection engines plus start/stop technology in the entire lineup, this by 2012. There is a rumor also about AMG working on a strong V8 diesel unit which will produce more than 516 lb-ft torque as well as the hybrid technology. So, expect a few greener AMG vehicles in the near future.
