The new MG TF model will make its grand debut around 2010 plus it will replace the TF unit – production of which is now back on track at the old home of Longbridge of MG Rover, on the West Midlands. Based on the present Roewe 550 unit compact hatch, which had its introduction at the Motor Show in Beijing, the upcoming TF will be then available in both convertible and coupe variant.
The new TF model takes some of the styling inspiration from the supercar MG SV and X80 concept. Those units were based both on the Mangusta – a sports auto from Italian maker Qvale, bought by MG Rover in 2001.
The 2010 TF vehicle will be based on the rear-wheel-drive platform made in conjunction with the British engineering expert Ricardo plus it will be powered by the MG Rover-based engines – that's includes a 1.8-litre turbo plus 2.5-litre V6.
