Ford Flex 2009 production begins

Further building its power in the rapidly raising crossover auto market, Ford Motor Company announced today the production debut of the 2009 Ford Flex at the Ford OAC (Oakville Assembly Complex).

“Today, we’re providing still more evidence that Ford is committed to delivering more products people want, further building on our crossover leadership,” Mark Fields, the President of The Americas at Ford told more than 1,000 workers, government officials plus Canadian Auto Workers representatives at the introduction celebration. “Flex drives as good as it looks, and the Oakville team is going to deliver another high-quality crossover for customers.”

Flex runs with Ford’s award-winning V-6 3.5-liter engine plus is mated to a 6-speed fuel-efficient transmission. The powertrain's expected to be delivering more than 260 horsepower, with 245 lb.-ft. - torque and good economy of fuel.

“The team here at Oakville continues to be at the top of their game,” said Gretzky. “By working together, they are building a great success story.”
