The next Passat by Volkswagen could be made in America

Volkswagen made the announcement that some cheaper replacement for Volkswagen Passat designed primarily for America will be built likely in a US factory next to the eventual Jetta unit replacement.

Volkswagen plans on increasing the sales in US to one million, this by 2018: 800,000 VW autos and 200,000 Audi models, so making one or both autos in the dollar area with American components is now crucial.

The factory would start production on late 2010 having the capacity of 200,000 - 250,000 cars. Volkswagen's considering adding on the plant a brand new mid-sized SUV unit, under development also.

The all-new SUV model will be placed right between the Touareg and the Tiguan.

The replacement for Passat would be costing around $20,000, that's considerably less than nearly $25,000 having shipping for the today’s unit. The auto would be larger, competing with Toyota Camry.
