By 2010 Mercedes units will be all turbocharged

Mercedes made the announcement that by 2010 every one of the units run by the turbocharged engines: "All our vehicles will have turbocharged engines in series production by the end of 2010 at the latest," Thomas Weber, Daimler board member that's responsible for the research and development, told the Automotive News Europe on a press event.

Under the current proposals, European Commission will be asking the German carmaker to cut the average emissions fleet by 2012 from 178 grams / kilometer to 138 g/km. The Commission will fine carmakers that fail on meet the targets.

Improving efficiency of the existing engines' the first step of Daimler’s strategy on reducing the emission levels of CO2 across the fleet. Weber affirmed the medium-term part would be introducing more hybrid high-tech. The flagship sedan Mercedes — The S class – will find itself offered like full hybrid car starting next year.
