Toyota topping General Motors in the first half sales

Although GM retained the title `world`s largest automaker` on these previous 76 years, Toyota really has been creeping up on General for this last decade. Toyota last year barely missed on toppling General Motors from the perch, but this year could even be the one the Japanese carmaker finally makes it.

First half sales worldwide made are in plus Toyota has 300,000 model lead over the America’ largest carmaker. Yahoo Finance says Toyota has sales of 4.8 million cars globally via the first 6 months of 2007 while General Motors moved only 4.5 million models.

Toyota’s tally's up 2 % from the previous year, while General Motors’s is down with 3 %. General Motors blames the tough conditions of economy and a few work disputes in America for this decline, but it did point out this: it`s having the record year in areas outside North America, like Latin America, Europe and Asia.
