Plans for the Q7 hybrid by Audi

Remember what Audi said that it will reveal next year a hybrid Q7? Well isn`t so easy! AutoCar reported Audi has put all the plans for the hybrid Q7 on hold indefinitely, but it will push ahead the plans for the hybrid variant of Q5.

It seems the firm realized that top priority is the lithium ion tech and not the hybrid gas-electric systems. "It’s clear this technology will become increasingly important in coming years and we want to make sure we are at the forefront when it comes to market," said Michael Dick, the head of research and development at Audi.

Although Audi doesn't have plans on selling that Q7 on hybrid form, Michael Dick affirms will still be made in small volume for internal evaluation purpose. "There are plans to build the Q7 Hybrid but only in very limited numbers, [but] it won’t be offered or sold to customers in the traditional sense."

The priority has been switched now ensuring that the plans for Q5 hybrid will be realized. "We are looking to make the Q5 our first true hybrid model, and the plan is to have it ready for lithium ion technology," afffirms Dick.
