Morgan Freeman was injured seriously late last night in a car accident. The accident happened in rural Mississippi near Morgan Freeman’s home, in north west. Freeman was driving the 1997 Nissan Maxima model owned by Demaris Meyer, the passenger and the auto flipped a few times, leaving the rural highway.

"There’s no indication that either alcohol or drugs were involved," said Sgt. Ben Williams, Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman.

Freedman was on 90 miles away up to Regional Medical Center in Memphis, where the actor was listed in a quite serious condition. A friend of his noted that the actor sustained no "life threatening injuries”.

"They had to use the jaws of life to extract him from the vehicle," said the editor of Sun Sentinel – Charleston, Clay McFerrin. "He was lucid, conscious. He was talking, joking with some of the rescue workers at one point."
