Details about Impreza 2009 by Subaru

The changes on the turbo Impreza by Subaru line-up for next year were briefly discussed this month, but we`ve got the official photos now and more info for you — including the expected cost. Subaru basically took the WRX spiffying it up with much more power, sportier looks and better handling, adding the automatic-only 2.5GT retaining the WRX 2008 ’s engine looking a lot more pedestrian.

Just 1 year after debuting the new WRX unit, Subaru is making important changes already to this model. The new WRX is getting a 41-horsepower to 265hp - 6,000rpm plus 244lb-ft - 4,000rpm. Subaru achieved the power boost by fitting a bigger turbocharger, bigger-diameter exhaust plus low-density catalytic converter. This newly-made Impreza 2.5GT model makes do having the WRX 2008 2.5-liter flat-four, that's rated with the same 224hp - 5,200rpm plus 226lb-ft - 3,200rpm. The all new WRX will be offered exclusively with the carried-over 5-speed manual, while that 2.5GT will have 4-speed auto.

Kyo-Ka by Subaru (meaning strengthening in Japanese) approach of upgrade to the WRX 2009 resulted in upgrades also to the capabilities of handling. Starting with lower-profile performance summer tires, wider too, sized now at 225/40-17 vs the outgoing unit and 205/50-17 all-seasons of the 2.5GT. 43 % stiffer springs up front plus 42 % stiffer on the back, 1mm bigger stabilizer bars on front and rear, at 21mm plus 16mm, respectively. Shock damping is changed to suit.

Subaru's expected to be releasing the official pricing for this Impreza 2009 lineup this week.
