The Hyundai Genesis 2009, revealed at the Detroit Auto Show in January, received 5-star crash tests rating for both side and frontal-impact accident tests.
Part of this due maybe to the Genesis’ 8 airbags: dual front airbags, plus front, rear seat-mounted and side-impact airbags, roof-mounted curtain side airbags that's for both rear and front outboard seat occupants. So other safety features on the Hyundai: ESC (Electronic Stability Control) and electronic head active restraints.
"Genesis was engineered with a lightweight but strong body shell, featuring ultra-high tensile steel, laser welding, and advanced adhesive bonding," said John Krafcik, the vice president of Strategic Planning and Product Development, at Hyundai Motor America. "Add eight airbags and electronic active head restraints and you can see the focus we placed on designing Genesis for occupant safety. These five-star results are just one indication of the dedication Hyundai engineers place on safety."
ESC compares the intended course of the driver with the actual response of the car. Braking individual front or the rear wheels and/or reducing engine power that's needed in some driving circumstances helping correct oversteer or understeer. Comment this news on the forum!
