Opel Corsa plus Astra ecoFLEX

Opel unveiled today 2 new units to the line-up: ecoFlex variant for the Astra and Corsa. With emissions of CO2 of only 109 ( 1.3 CDTI Corsa ecoFLEX) plus 119 g/km ( 1.7 CDTI Astra ecoFLEX), the 2 units require only 4.1 and 4.5l of diesel, per 100 km (that's around 58 mpg for Corsa plus 52 mpg for Astra).

While the figures are amazing, they still don't beat Bluemotion diesel technology of Volkswagen. But for Opel is a step on the right direction for European car customer. Also if the high millage diesels is winning traction in America, Opel now may end up in sharing this technology with other GM cousins.

“At Opel, environmental consciousness means offering clever technological innovations at affordable prices, making them accessible to as many customers as possible. Corsa and Astra ecoFLEX are the newest examples of our strategy and directly address the needs of buyers in high-volume segments,” says Hans Demant, the Managing Director Adam Opel GmbH.

The two autos will be found before this year ends. In summer of 2009, Opel will introduce also the ecoFLEX variant of the all-new top unit Insignia, having a low consumption of fuel and exhaust emissions plus high comfort and performance in driving on the mid-size class.
