The Chevrolet Volt 2010 looks to be right on schedule, plus GM` most talked of plug-in hybrid reaching another milestone: General Motors decided on some battery supplier for the lithium-ion battery Volt packs.
Despite settling down on a battery maker, General Motors has yet to announce officially which firm secured the contract. General Motors has been working now with both LG Chem and Continental on the batteries development for Volt.
Bob Lutz - GM vice chairman indicated also that Volt program could be actually ahead of THE schedule. “The actual production of production vehicles may be earlier,” Lutz reported to the Detroit Free Press. Volt is scheduled tentatively to start production in 2010, November.
“We haven’t hit any obstacles so far for the batteries,” Lutz added. “They are all performing flawlessly. It’s almost scary we are not seeing any problems with the batteries.”
Although General Motors hasn't confirmed yet, we heard rumors that Volt will make the public debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.
