Tata was serious when it said the Nano protests at the factory may make it now go elsewhere. Tata announced is was stopping the construction on the Singur plant, a farming West Bengal state, India community. The company stated: “This decision was taken in order to ensure the safety of its employees and contract labor, who have continued to be violently obstructed from reporting to work.”
The problem is those 400 acres farmland taken for the plant grounds, plus the farmers that now want it back. This represents quite a big setback to the cheapest car of the world considering the factory construction was almost complete with around 4,000 people employed so far.
Nano is shopping now for a brand new home. There's no word about how the setback will be effecting production schedules or the possibly the cost of the 2,500 dollars auto. Comment this news on the forum!
