About Hummer H2 E85

Hummer unveiled finally a H2 variant that runs with E85 ethanol fuel. The auto brand well known for being fuel hog is greener now. The H2 actually can run solely with E85 ethanol or gasoline or.. any mix of the 2 fuels. Other General Motors flex-fuel autos on the road currently are able only on running up to 85 % ethanol (E85).

So the final developments enabled the H2 runing on E85 ethanol are now being carried to other cars on the Hummer line. And the H3 unit will become later in 2009 E85 capable. A 4-cylinder diesel turbo engine is being developed also for the H3.

“Using biofuels, specifically E85, is the most significant thing we can do in the near-term to offset rising future energy demands” says Beth Lowery, General Motors vice president of Environment, Energy and Safety Policy. ““We believe ethanol used as a fuel, not just as a gasoline additive, is the best near-term alternative to the surging global demand for oil because ethanol is renewable and it significantly reduces CO2 emissions compared to gasoline. Best of all, it is available today”.
