Pininfarina will reveal at the Auto Show in Paris an electric plug-in concept auto previewing a future 4-seat small vehicle that the firm plans on selling under the own brand in Europe, Japan and US starting on late 2010.
This concept auto will have batteries Lithium Metal Polymer. These batteries are different from the lithium-ion ones (like those planned for Chevrolet Volt) this because each cell of the battery is electronically protected with passive and active mode systems, constantly monitoring efficiency, temperature and voltage of each element. So the cells are now encased on a steel box, preventing damage.
It has 125 mile area on full charge taking about 8 hours loading from a home basic electrical outlet. Also it can run for 15 miles in a 5-minute charge. Subscribe to Car news by Email |
