Ron Gettelfinger United Auto Workers chief said not surprisingly that he would really oppose any potential merger deal between Chrysler LLC and General Motors on the grounds it would mean jobs losses inevitably for both firms. Gettelfinger affirms he has not had formal talks on this matter with Chrysler of GMs.
“I personally would not want to see anything that would result in a consolidation. That would mean the elimination of additional jobs,” said Gettelfinger said on a political WWJ-AM Webcast.
Gettelfinger wasn’t happy also about the decision of General Motors on ending early SUV production in Janesville, located in Wisconsin, on 23rd of December, a move affecting over 2,500 union employees.
“Any time we see a facility go down, we suffer with the people because we know the impact that it’s going to have on their lives,” he affirmed. Subscribe to Car news by Email |
