A Toyota ship carrying 3900 cars from Japan right to Oregon, Portland, caught on fire Tuesday. It's not clear how many cars were ruined on blaze. The fire was stopped after some worker sealed ship pieces, this is the only info available.
“About every two years this new century, the oceans of our planet seem to get hungry for cars.” said John Pearley Huffman - like a prophecy in the October’s Car and Driver. His article is about Mazda’s 2006 vehicle loss from Cougar Ace capsizing, he also affirmed that it's time for Car Gods again to give sacrifice to Mother Ocean now (Volvo had incident in 2002; Hyundai in 2004.)
Is the auto world now safe again in seas for some other 24 months? But then again on the bad economy, if the cargo wasn’t with Prius units it may have very well been a blessing for us. Subscribe to Car news by Email |
