Fisker shows off the 2009 Karma S Convertible Concept

Henrik Fisker – the founder of Fisker Automotive is quite smart. Before he `played' in the hybrid auto business he supplied the people with elegant, sleek coupes, convertibles like Tramonto and Latigo. When his firm put out the Karma sedan production at the Auto Show in Detroit, Fisker lobbed off also 2 doors plus the roof creating the concept auto Karma S.

The Karma S is sharing its spaceframe architecture of aluminum and the Q-Drive powertrain having the Karma sedan by Fisker. So like that sedan variant, the convertible one run up 50 miles using its battery pack of lithium-ion to power the mixed 403 hp of those 2 electric motor models. Beyond the battery-wraps area a GM Ecotec 260 hp 2.0-liter engine will be generating the electricity.

Its design is providing for a folding compact hardtop which does not interfere with the vehicle’s design lines too much . No word on how much extra wright will come with losing Karma’s top; that will be clear when or if the auto makes its 2011 deadline production.

“Our objective is to create a singular design language and heritage around our state-of-the-art Q-DRIVE® powertrain,” affirmed Henrik Fisker – the Fisker Automotive, Inc. CEO. “The Karma S is an extension of the Fisker Automotive product range of eco-conscious automobiles and sets the tone for our future.“
