Cadillac is delaying the Australian debut

Cadillac blamed the world economy; the need of fixing its parent firm`s continuing the Detroit woes, says it would not debut its brand on the market in Australia despite all the earlier plans. So, Cadillac planned on launching this luxury brand in late 2008 in Australia, but is was delayed right until February current year. Now the plans are indefinitely on hold.

'There is only one chance to launch this brand in Australia and in these challenging times, we believe we couldn’t give it the best chance of success' said Mark Reuss - GM Holden Chairman and Managing Director. 'This was a difficult decision but the only viable decision'. 'There is no doubt the Cadillac CTS is a magnificent vehicle and the response since it was revealed at the Australian International Motor Show in October has been very positive. But obviously since then the market for new cars has continued to deteriorate, the broader economic environment difficulties remain largely unchanged and the exchange rate has worsened for imports' said Reuss.

Cadillac struggled to debut its brand name outside the North American territory, but the carmaker never put efforts into the global expansion. With the CTS Sport Wagon's introduction, Cadillac never had an area that would appeal more to the markets of the world.
