2009 Toyota production is down with at least twenty percent

Toyota affirmed today it expects the global production will be down over 20 % during 2009. The carmaker said this anticipates building around 6.5 million autos for consumption (worldwide), its lowest production level, this since 2004, plus assuming demand close to the predictions of Toyota.

The Japanese carmaker is setting the sales global target for seven million cars for 2009 – 50% of a million of that were made in the previous year. Toyota, just like every carmaker, is dealing now with inventory surplus occurred on the reduced demand (dramatically).

The domestic production at Toyota will be around three million cars, if not fewer, significantly down from the four million it made last year. If the production is dropping below three million, it would become the lowest vehicles volume made in Japan since 1979 by Toyota.
