Toyota is recalling 1.3 million Yaris autos worldwide

Toyota has a strong reputation in this business for quality, but the Japanese carmaker announced on Wednesday a of 1.3 million autos recall worldwide. This recall involves the Yaris small vehicle of the company, having 134,900 of all the recalled cars residing in America.

The Detroit News reports this recall is due in fact to a defect on the seatbelt. In extreme situations (front-crash), this defective seatbelt model could cause some foam pad to the ignite. However, there are no cases of fire reported to Toyota or the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration).

As you know, the engineers from Toyota learned many things from creating the iQ city vehicle; the Japanese carmaker is looking on spreading the knowledge to lots of other Toyota models. `We’re looking to transfer the clever engineering and packaging solutions to more Toyotas` Hiroki Nakajima Toyota chief engineer reported to the AutoExpress. `For example, we’re working on a seven-seater that’s the size of the Yaris`. Nakajima claims even his team will give the small MPV `limo-like legroom in the back`. For example, Yaris 5-door has extra rear doors promise giving customers added utility plus space with no compromising economy of fuel. When paired to the automatic transmission, this Yaris 5-door is returning 29/35 mpg city/highway, having the added cog of the 5-speed manual boosting the economy of Yaris by 1 mpg in the highway.

Other the 2009 Yaris improvements range include also basic ABS, Electronic Brake Force Distribution of the Toyota pus side airbags for the front and the rear seat passengers. Great car indeed... So, the recall includes the 2006 - 2007 unit year Yaris autos. The customers will be notified on the recall right next week through a letter from the firm.
