China knocked America for the January sales

China once was quite small on the radar for all the automakers in the world, but the billions nation has emerged fast as a major vehicle market. According to GM` sales figures, in fact China displaced the US as the greatest car market in the world in January.

Per sales figures of GM, 790,000 cars were sold on the Chinese territory during December. If we compare, the market in U.S. accounted for the roughly 668,000 models.

'This is the first time in history that China has passed the U.S. in monthly sales' Mike DiGiovanni, executive director in global market / industry analysis for GM, to Automotive News. 'We are estimating that China is going to come in at 10.7 million seasonally adjusted annual rate in January, about 790,000 units. The U.S. industry, we estimate, at about 668,000 units or about 9.8 million SAAR'.

If the estimation of GM is correct, it could mark the 1st time that China outsold America on every month basis. But the official figures in the Chinese sales have not been reported yet.
