Nissan skipping next Frankfurt, Detroit, LA shows

Nissan announced its absence at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2009, the Los Angeles Auto Show 2009, or the Detroit auto show 2010. This decision comes now amid 'severe and prolonged headwinds throughout the world' the firm stated for the press. 'Participation in regional and local-market shows is subject to review and approval by Nissan’s regional management'.

Nissan skipped in January the Detroit show 2009, as did a few other carmakers looking for costs cutting. The firm is attending the Geneva Motor Show this week and will participate also on the Geneva event next year. The firm said also it will exhibit at the Auto Shanghai 2009 and the Tokyo Motor Show 2009. With rumors however about Tokyo show being canceled possibly, it’s clear that nothing is for the moment set is stone.

'Nissan is committed to prudent management of shareholder resources as well as to long-term success in the global marketplace and is reviewing marketing and communications strategies to ensure the best use of resources and maximum return on investments' reads the statement.
