General Motors recalls 276,000 autos over transmission cable defect

General Motors announced a 276,000 2009 cars recall - from coupes to the sedan models to crossovers – this for a faulty, bad transmission cable, preventing park from being engaged properly. This flaw is allowing autos to (forward) roll even if that shift lever is appearing (to be in the park) to the driver.

The recall is covering 2009 units of the HHR, Chevrolet Cobalt, Malibu, GMC Acadia, Traverse, Pontiac G6, G5 and Saturn Aura plus Outlook.

The NHTSA says 'the vehicle could roll away after the driver has exited.' the owners of these recalled cars can expect on receiving a notice shortly on mail or they can go visit their dealer locally.
