Hyundai Tiburon 'Eco sport' positioned apparently below Genesis

As you know, Hyundai plans on reviving the Tiburon coupe model, in concept at least if not in name too, as a sibling (low-priced) to its brand new Genesis Coupe unit. Hyundai Motor America's CEO, John Krafcik, affirmed that this all-new coupe car will be a fuel efficient, cheaper, stylish sibling, more performance-oriented auto - Genesis.

'It will have a lower price point, kind of eco sport positioning, where it is not going to be all about performance' Krafcik reported to Autoweek. 'It is going to be very fuel efficient. It is going to be stylish, a real nice complement to the Genesis coupe'. As you know, Hyundai will unveil the all-new coupe in the fall at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It's based on the concept model shown earlier - Veloster.

The brand new Tiburon will be sharing the platform (front-wheel-drive) used in the Elantra and Accent, meaning it will get also a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine. The pricing expeected is around 15,000 Dollars, about 3,000 Dollars less than the Tiburon 2008’s base cost. The Tiburon name for sure will be changed in favor of a new one, though nothing was suggested. The 2-door model was sold as Hyundai Coupe auto in the European territory.
