Mitsubishi unveils its Outlander GT Prototype 2010

The presence of Mitsubishi at the New York Auto Show this year will be highlighted gracefully by the Outlander GT Prototype — a preview of the upcoming redesign to the carmaker’s well known compact SUV crossover. So far, just a blurred teaser picture and 2 details images of the car have been unveiled. The all-new Outlander, as you'll see, borrows greatly from Lancer sedan — see the 'Jet Fighter' grille there— leading to a raised family resemblance.

This prototype is wrapped in new technologies, like the Idle Neutral Logic, that shifts the transmission automatically into neutral, the vehicle is standstill on that interval. Other highlights: improved performance and economy of fuel from its stronger 3.0-liter V6 SOHC MIVEC engine, plus a Super-All-Wheel-Control System that offers improved control and handling.

Despite the up front updates, it does not look like the hind-quarter of the Outlander, receiving some attention from the design department at Mitsubishi. Prototypes of this updated auto were spied this year at the beginning. The official crossover revealing will take place in the morning, Thursday, at the press conference for Mitsubishi at the Auto Show in NY.
